Arthur
L. Trout was Centralia High School
coach from 1914 to 1950. In basketball
he had an811-329 (71%) record with three
state titles coming in 1918, 1922, and
1942. His teams also placed second in 1946 and 4th in 1939.
Trout was a charter inductee into the
Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall
of Fame in 1973. He was named one of
the 100 legends of
I.H.S.A. State Tournament Basketball in
2006.
In football he had a record of 153-73-18,
with 5 undefeated teams - 1926 (7-0), 1927
(7-0-1), 1933 (9-0-2), 1936 (11-0),and 1942
(8-0-2). He was a charter inductee
into the Illinois High School Football
Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1976.
Trout also coached baseball one season in
1947. The team had a record of 12-2
and took the conference title.
In 1982, Trout was inducted as a charter
inductee into the National High School
Sports Hall of Fame.
