Steinmann received All-State (Chicago Daily News) recognition as the premier receiver for
the undefeated CHS Football Team of 1969 (9-0). He had 20 receptions for 460 yards and
rushed
for 585 yards, 17 touchdowns, 12 extra points, 114 total points.

For 1969, the Evansville Courier named
Steinmann First Team All-South Seven
Conference, First Team All-Southern
Illinois, and Southern Illinois Player of the Year. He was also named to the second team All-State by
the Illinois Prep Sports Special newspaper and received the
WILY Radio Lineman of the Year Award.
On the track at CHS, Steinmann teamed with Tom Miller, Gary Heard and John Stedelin to
win the IHSA Sectional 880 relay and qualify
for the state track meet in
1970.
He was a nenber if tge 1969 CHS
Basketball team that had a record of 23-7.
