While a senior at Centralia High
School in 1960-61 Rapp was the leading
scorer for the 29-2 basketball Orphans. He
received all-state, (Chicago Daily News
first team - 20 man), (Champaign News
Gazette second team - 5 man), all-South
Seven and all-Centralia Holiday Tourney
recognition for his efforts. He scored 922 career points in basketball
and was also a conference hurdle champion.
While in the armed forces, he was named to
the all-Army team and was a member of the
European championship team. After his
discharge from the service, he attended
Bradley University where he lettered two
years and played on their NIT team in 1968.
