Mundell came to Centralia Junior
College (Kaskaskia College) for the 1954-55
school year as Athletic Director,
basketball, baseball, and tennis
coach. He coached basketball through the 1982-83
season and accumulated a record of 400-358.
His teams won ten conferences titles and
made state final appearances in 1964 (1st),
1965 (3rd), 1967 (3rd), and 1968 (4th). The
1964 team finished 28-3 and eighth in the
nation. Mundell
coached five All-Americans in basketball
and one in baseball. Mundell served as
chairman of the State Junior College
Basketball Association for twenty-five
years. He also became a published writer.
His book Triple Threat Basketball has sold
worldwide. In
1982 Mundell was inducted into the Illinois
Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame,
and in 1991, he was inducted into the Kaskaskia
College (C.J.C.) Athletic Hall of Fame.
