Ken "Preacher" McBride
The Centralia Sports Hall of Fame
1989 Individual Award Winner


 

McBride, 6' 3" guard, garnered three varsity letters in basketball at Centralia High School (1945, 1946, 1947). 

The 1946 team captured second in state.   In 1947 McBride was chosen All-State as he led the 1947 Orphans to a 32-7 record.

He tied for state high jump championship at 5’11 3/4” in 1946. 

McBride then went to Maryland State where he was named Little-All-American in 1952.  He was drafted by the Syracuse Nationals in 1952. read more 

After college, “Preacher” played one season with the Milwaukee Hawks and also played with the Globetrotters. see Globetrotters all-time player list.

In 1997 McBride was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a player.
