Summar Maines saw 106 wins as a four-year
starter for the Centralia High School
Annie's basketball program (1992, '93, '94,
'95). As a dominate inside player on
both ends of the floor, her teams captured
undefeated South Seven Conference titles all
four seasons.
Maines was named First Team
All-Conference each of her four years and
was conference MVP for 1995. The 1993
and 1994 teams each made IHSA class AA elite
eight appearances winning 29 games each
season. With two games left in the
1994 undefeated regular season, leading
scorer and rebounder Maines suffered a
season ending knee injury, eliminating her
participation in any state playoff
games.
She was first team All-State
selection by the Chicago Tribune.
After her senior year Maines played in the
1995 IBCA and Southern Illinois Lions club
all-star games.
Summar received a four-year
basketball scholarship to Indiana University
where she became a starter for the 1997-1998
season which ended with a 21-12 record.
