Berger
earned Basketball All-American,
All-State, All-State tourney honors as he
led the Centralia
High School Orphans to a 28-2 record and an
Elite Eight finish in the State finals in
1964. In doing so, he was the Centralia Sentinel area scoring leader with
796 points.
His 26.5 points per game average in 1964 is
a single season record at CHS. In
addition, he finished his high school career
with a total of 1,324 points in three
seasons of play.
Cliff went on to play for Adolph Rupp at
Kentucky University.
Berger
is a member of the Illinois Basketball
Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
